THE STORY

A little closer to the heart of it.

The Innkeeper sees a full ledger as a reason to celebrate. Leah and the stable hands see the work behind it. When Mary and Joseph arrive, Ezra and Miriam knock on door after door, meeting guests with plenty of reasons to keep their rooms. Prayer helps them recognize the shelter they can offer themselves.

Who's at the centre?

Ezra and Miriam lead the search; the Innkeeper and Leah provide the central comic relationship. Mary and Joseph connect the search to the nativity.

How can the speaking roles flex?

Divide the Maid speeches among several children or combine them for fewer speakers. Angel narration can be shared. Each guest has both a refusal and a later response: keep those two appearances connected.

Room for the rest of the group.

A group of maids performs a dance. Additional guests can gather around the manger for the conclusion.

Bringing it to life.

A desk or podium establishes the inn. A reusable doorway can serve the guest encounters; the final change reveals a stable and manger.

Another story to discover.
