THE STORY
Daria and Demetria are given a special task: bring Mary and Joseph safely to Bethlehem. Gertie and Myrtle join the journey, and a series of animal encounters explores what each creature can offer a heavenly King. An injured sheep discovers a gift of warmth, and an ordinary journey becomes part of God's larger story.
Daria and Demetria Donkey, Gertie and Myrtle Dove, and the Angel carry the journey and its meaning.
Share or combine the numbered Sheep, Camel and Cow speeches. Keep Hurt Sheep identifiable so the concern about offering a gift has its own resolution. Combining the two donkeys requires more extensive adaptation.
Additional sheep can join the dance, and more animals can gather at the stable. Choose speaking assignments separately from ensemble participation.
The group travels around the performance space between animal encounters. A simple stable and manger anchor the ending. Songs are indicated; recordings are not included.
